Coffee IV: Steamed Milk
"What are you drinking, love?"
"Secret."
"I want to trade!"
"Only if you promise to be good for the rest of the day."
"Mm, okay~"
Cayden always ordered the same thing everytime he went to Starbucks. It was ironic really, considering the drink he got from the coffeeshop was never actually coffee, but more of a sweetened frothy mixture of half and half, milk and honey. Ridiculously sweet and light, he never took more than a few sips from it and considered it a frothy form of creamer more than an actual drink. But he'd realized long ago that if he ordered coffee at Starbucks, Ravel would automatically insist on trading. Love's was always better, he said, love's was always more tasty- despite the fact that he knew Ravel hated the aftertaste that came with coffee. And so, instead of having Ravel awake all night on a caffeinated drink he didn't actually enjoy, he'd settled for just ordering what he knew his brother actually liked. And the habit remained over the years, so that whenever he went into a Starbucks whether alone, with Ravel or with friends, he always ordered the same type of steamed milk special. When asked why he didn't drink coffee and what was it he had in that cup instead, he would just smile.
"Secret." After all, if Ravel didn't know, he didn't see why anyone else should either.
